Oh alright then

November 13, 2007

you can have a proper post. I just need to get typing.

So Friday night was spent at home instead of going to see Lee Scratch Perry which I’m slightly gutted about but hey, cant win them all and finding out on Thursday night left us too late to get tickets. Next best thing to being there is here.

Saturday we packed up for a night at my brothers for his house warming party come birthday party for his wife. There were many old friends attending and even though we have 8 years between me and him I had a fair few years where his friends were my friends too when I moved to Norwich alone at 18.

I bought some booze over and Scotty spent nearly the entire evening by the fire in the woods. He helped start the fire and as the night went on ALL of the attending men took turns in tending the fire. Almost the entire evening was spent by the fire until around midnight when the remaining people who were sleeping over all went for a game of table football. All drinkers had a fair skin full and a fun night was had by all. All the photos I took turned out a bit rubbish so I’ve not bothered putting any up yet. Paul and Becky (brother and wife) had spent a lot of time in their garden cutting down all the rubbish and thinning out their very over grown garden. EVERYTHING burnable was burned.

Sunday was spent recovering, and I was mean enough to mention to all the others that I could spend it on the sofa relaxing whilst they all had small children to attend to. Sometimes I’m quite happy not to have kids, especially with a hang over.

Monday was back at work. Le sigh, its good at the moment though because I feel refreshed by the holiday.

I finished a quick knitted head band of which I’m yet to take a photo, and I’ve started a new pair of socks. The lace work has gone in to hibernation as I’ve lost what row I’m on and in the dark evenings its nigh on impossible to complete. Overall we’re happy, Erasmus is well and all is good at Erasmavillas. (stoopid name for our house)

big love all.

we made a yarn swift :D

November 9, 2007

I found these instructions online.

After we bought some wood and the right tools it took a couple of evenings to get together. We used what we had at home like some small black plastic tubing which held together some old metal drawer frames. We used the cylindrical metal too.

Over all I’m AMAZED at how well it works. Just set it up and turn the ball winder hand and it all goes by itself.

Tuesday morning I went shopping and got some sand paper to neaten it all up. I think we pottered about the house getting the washing done for the rest of the day.

I’ve updated all my Ravelry stuff and its 90% up to date now. I’m only missing one yarn photo and updates on my latest completed mini project. My ears were getting cold. I’ll tell more another day.

Wednesday we went to Dragon Hall with mum and dad. Parents approval of our wedding venue has been met and an invoice will be in the post to us soon with full costs for 1 full day usage of the venue. We had lunch out at the rush cutters on the river and it was lovely.

Thursday we nipped over to the UEA and visited the Sainsburys art gallery. That was fun. Photos to come soon. Scotty already has his up if you follow the link to your bottom right on this page. Also popped past PC world and got a few little ipoddy bits like a sleeve and a new radio tuner as the last one broke in the car.

I’m loving all this bimbling about and I’m amazed at how time can just disappear with out achieving anything. I can spend WAY too much time on the net checking things before actually getting anything done at all. Take today (Friday) for example. I’ve managed to shower and sew in some ends. That is all. I suppose its best to enjoy wasting time whilst I have the chance to. Although I can feel the sheer tension from Scotty feeling that he’s wasted a day not leaving the house. I’m just going to have to go and cheer him up. 🙂 maybe after cleaning the kitchen and cooking a frabulous dinner and knitting and many other things….oh the lists are endless, in a good way.

I’m on holiday

November 7, 2007

which means I’ve avoided blogging too, instead doing fun things like going out.

Saturday we met up with the family and went to a great fireworks event. It was lovely to see the whole clan together enjoying the out doors. There were lots of photos taken.

Also spotted some strange light UFO’s when taking photos. Click on the image to see the whole set.

I gave mum her new hat and she LOVES it. YAY! I tried taking photos of her and she did not like the result so instead I replaced her with marge simpson.

sometimes I just cant resist a quick and dirty photo shop.

Monday we went shopping in town and bought some wood and dowel and a chisel and drill bits. We decided to make a yarn swift so that I could ball all my skeins of wool. I can confirm it works but you’ll have to wait until my next holiday post for images. Scotty and I stopped at wagon mamma’s for lunch and wandered home to play with power tools.

Monday afternoon Erasmus took a trip to the vet to be told he is doing very very well now. He needs to take medicine for another month and will have to have aspirin every 3 days for the rest of his life. I’ll have to find another way of giving it to him because squirting in his mouth is not working. He’s used up one of his 9 lives now.

I love my office, yes I do…

especially when a few times a year they put on free booze and a party and a treasure hunt. *hic*

they are all so lovely, and I even managed to take my lunch break late and still fully join in. not easy to explain because i’ve had a few. But I’m not paid by the people I work for, or to put it easier I did not have the afternoon off to go treasure hunting. But super flexible as they have been I still managed to join in.

god damn this is tough to type. *hic*

anyhew I’ll suffer in the morning 😉 and a nice fireworks display tomorrow night with family yay! all other updates given when I’m a bit more sober. now where’s our booze.

one more thing: post your pants. You know YOU have to.

Thu Oct 25, 5:48 AM
BANGKOK (AFP) – A campaign is underway to chastise Myanmar’s military regime, not through dialogue or sanctions, but by flooding the country’s foreign embassies with women’s underwear, an activist said Thursday.

A pro-democracy group based in the northern Thai city of Chiang Mai is urging people all over the world to “post, deliver or fling” their undergarments to Myanmar’s international embassies.

“The Burma military regime is not only brutal but very superstitious. They believe that contact with a woman’s panties or sarong can rob them of their power,” the Lanna Action for Burma group said on its website.

The generals who rule Myanmar, previously known as Burma, provoked international outcry in September when they violently cracked down on peaceful protesters, killing at least 13 people.

Europe and the United States led the chorus of disapproval, announcing new sanctions against the regime.

Despite the outcry and a United Nations statement deploring the crackdown and urging dialogue, the junta has shown little sign of moving any closer towards democracy or freeing opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi.

Those behind the so-called “Panty Power” campaign hope that lingerie can succeed where international diplomacy has so far failed.

“We want to raise awareness first, and we want to target the Burmese government officials, letting them know we are against them abusing their power,” said Tomoko, an activist with Lanna Action for Burma.

Tomoko, who goes by one name only, said she had heard that Myanmar embassies in Thailand, Australia and the United States had been targeted by the Panty Power campaign, which began last week.

“We are sending (the generals) panties as a symbol of putting their power down,” she told AFP.
